Kyver’s early childhood would be considered by most, an idyllic one. His parents Marlo and Ria were farmers, owning the Sabertooth Farm on the outskirts of the Tabaxi city of Nymora. He spent his days helping his parents, running through the fields, and playing with friends. However, at the age of 10, everything went sideways. His memories are fuzzy but he distinctly remembers coming home to find his home burning and his parents’ heads on pikes. A murderous mob of humans under the banner of the Vitalis Family called the Sons of the Serpent kidnapped him and many other young Tabaxi. Over the next three years, his life was that of torture, despair, and tragedy.

While I won’t speak in detail about what occurred to him in the underground caves and tunnels known as The Vineyard, several events were important. The first is his introduction and consequent friendship with a Drow woman named Alma. Kyver grew very fond of and attached to Alma and dreamt of escaping with her by his side. One of the things that the Vitalis did was fight the Tabaxi against each other, often to the death. On one such occasion, Kyver was forced to fight his childhood best friend Leewa. He has vivid memories of watching his friend die in his arms. His prowess in the pits and his youth caught the eye of the son of the Vitalis family, leading him to become his “pet”.

At some point after his thirteenth birthday, Kyver managed to do what he saw as impossible: kill his abuser and escape his imprisonment. It was not long after that he joined a rogues guild called the Royal Vagabonds. For the next decade or so, Kyver honed his skills of thievery and killing. He traveled the plane of Sloane doing jobs, meeting people, and making connections. However, he would go out of his way to hurt or hinder any humans he came across. This is what would get him kicked out of the guild. Because of his actions toward humans, he had tarnished the reputation of the guild. While they loved him as a brother, he was affecting them all and he would not be reigned in.

After he left the Vagabonds, he traveled by himself. He became known in some circles as a ruthless killer with little to no qualms about his targets. Often these targets were humans and he took great pleasure in his kills. However, in a twist of fate, he was hired by a small group of humans that called themselves the Thieves of Hollis. He was to ambush a Tabaxi caravan making their way up from Balazaar. He took the opportunity to flip the script and ended up killing the three men and providing safe passage to the caravan.
