To say that We’ahqa’s childhood was unique would be an understatement. Born to what are assumed to be a Marid and an Elf, (though I’m not sure which was which within the relationship), We’ grew up knowing neither of his parents. They were raised by a Human man named Phil Weral. Now, their circumstances of birth aren’t what make their childhood unique. It was where that childhood took place. We’ahqa grew up in a remote region of an island called Uscana, in the prime material plane of Iwi. What makes this place so unique is its extreme proximity to the Feywild and its neighboring planes. So depending on the phases of the moon and the arcane ley lines that crossed the planes, We’aqha was either in Iwi, the Feywild, or Sloane.

Despite the precariousness of their location, We’ahqa took after his father. Outside of their conversations with each other, We’ rarely spoke to another humanoid. They much preferred the company of woodland creatures and nature itself. There wasn’t a tree or shrub, squirrel or deer, owl or hummingbird that lived in We’s range of wandering that they did not know and befriend. There was one particular day, in which We’ahqa was roaming the foothills of a small mountain range when they came upon a glittering, almost radiant stag. The two locked eyes for a few moments, entranced by one another. A sound drew the attention of the fledgling Druid and when they looked back, the stag was nowhere to be found.

Not long after this, We’ met and made friends with a Wood Elf by the name of Dona. She was kind and treated the young Genasi as an equal. They spoke of different places they had been, ideas on where to explore, and their favorite flowers. There was one day in particular, the last time that We’ahqa would speak to Dona, in which they gave Dona a small necklace. It was a pendant of a Snapdragon, Dona’s favorite flower, that was enchanted to shift into the visage of We’ahqa’s face. It brought tears to her eyes and she vowed to always keep it with her. The two parted ways and We’ahqa held those memories close to their heart.

Years later, when Phil was getting on in age, he requested that We’ahqa venture out into the world. We’ didn’t want to leave him, they wanted to stay and take care of the older man. But Phil insisted that it was their path to venture out into the world, to find out the truth of their birth and the purpose of their life. He gave We’ahqa a piece of parchment with a name in a language that they didn’t understand and told him that they must seek this person out. With trepidation, We’ahqa ventured out into the world, not knowing if they would ever see their father again.
